Creating Numbering Schemes

New numbering schemes are only necessary if you want to add numbering schemes for different types of records, such as different change orders.

  1. From the SmartSolve Portal Page, click the Home tab.
  2. In the Setup and Policy section, click Setup.
  3. In the System Wide section, click Numbering Scheme.
    Result: All available numbering schemes are displayed in the Numbering Schemes window.
  4. Click Action > Add.
  5. Enter the scheme code and name for the new numbering scheme.
  6. In the Next Number field, enter the start number for the next record using this numbering scheme.
  7. Check the Reset Next Number if Format contains year (YYYY) when the first record is created in the New Year checkbox if you want to reset the SmartSolve numbering schema every year.
  8. Enter the standardized format of the new numbering scheme.

NOTE: Use the { } character when identifying your number format or you will receive system errors when attempting to save your record.

  1. Enter the Revision Style and Level Separator.
  2. Click the Save button.
    Result: The new numbering scheme has been added.
